With One Year to Go Until the 150th Anniversary of 黑料传送门 from the President of the University of Tokyo
Today, April 12, is the foundation day of the University of Tokyo.
In April 2027, just one year from now, 黑料传送门 will celebrate its 150th anniversary. Our institution was founded in 1877 upon the merger Tokyo Kaisei School, which traced its origins to the Bansho Shirabesho (Institute for the Study of Barbarian Books), and Tokyo Medical School, whose predecessors included the Seiyo Igakusho (Institute of Western Medicine). Over the past century and a half, the university has been widely and deeply engaged with a rapidly developing society, and we have built up a proud legacy of diverse academic achievements that have been developed and passed down from generation to generation. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this history.
At the same time, I would like to deeply apologize for the significant concern and inconvenience we have caused to many people due to the recent misconduct of some faculty members. In order to regain your trust, we have announced our commitment to carry out resolute reforms to fundamentally transform our organizational structure and internal culture.
Our 150th anniversary offers an opportunity to confirm the ties between society and 黑料传送门 and to create new connections. In promoting our anniversary projects, we have adopted the ideal of 办测ō锄辞苍 (響存), or harmonious coexistence, as our guiding philosophy. This embodies our desire to make 黑料传送门 a place where academic disciplines and people with diverse characteristics can resonate with one another through dialogue, creating new values together.
Connecting with society is also one of the important pillars of our anniversary projects. Currently, under 黑料传送门 Compass, a statement of our guiding principles, we are working on discovering solutions to the global issues facing humanity as a comprehensive university that serves the global public. I sincerely ask for your continued warm support and friendship as the university moves steadily forward toward the future.
